BoAo Golf Country Club is one of the major projects of BoAo large international Comprehensive holiday area with unique geographical conditions and fine design and wonderful workmanship excelling nature of the developer, after a 2-year construction and trail operation, a golf course, first one in China, Sole Links Style Island Course in Asia, has appeared it self with its unique pose and charm, on the sandy slope island at the sea month of the Wanquan River.
On the 7228-yard course lanes with 18 holes and par-72 are front 9 holes around the island surrounded with the river and seawater, blue water, merging the landscape of the sky and seawater as well as the hills in the distance and waters nearby. The back 9 holes pass through the island, bringing together sand beach, pond, strange stores, swaying coconut palm trees, a vast view of countryside field. One feels cool breeze even in hot summer. What’s more, with chirping bird overhead, it seems you were in a natural park with wild feature.
Since it’s operation. The golf course has received distinguished guests and golf players. In addition, a number of golf evens took place here. The golf lanes are very challenging which is “one of the golf courses with most special features in China”, commented Mr.Cui Zhiqiang, Secretary General of China Golf Association. After playing the golf, Mr.Francisco Frangary, Secretary General of World Tourist Organization exclaimed:“ A too beautiful site for such a nasty game! But I enjoyed it very much.” On July 26, 1997, Mr.Bob Hawke former prime Minister of Australia and Mr.Morihiro Hosokawa former Prime Minister of Japan and his wife visited the course. As the first distinguished players they tried the course, which laid a good atmosphere for BoAo Golf Course to receive golfers and welcome players from abroad.
The course was exquisitely designed by Mr.Bill from Canada while the construction was strictly supervised by Mr.Yuji from Japan. Different skills of playing golf have been tactically embodied on the course, 80m2 island so that players with skill at different levels can play and learn on the course. It’s just to keep and respect the special implication of Links Style that the original nature landform and vegetation are kept on the course, a full use has been made of original geographical layout of the waters, sand pits, reed and underwater cane plants on the island, especially the wild jackfruit forest spreading on the whole island, which gives not only a special scene, but also a big test of the player’s skill. It has the function of jackfruit Scotland links golf.
The hole with the longest length on the course is Hole 3(Maria), 585 yards, the hole with shortest length is Hole 11(wave), 171 yards only. The most difficult hole is Hole 7(Great wall),454 yard, originally it was a hole with straight distance across the sea, but because the left side is a vast expanse of sea gulf. If the player does not hit the ball properly and the ball fails to go across the sea, the player has to conservatively hit the ball to the right lane, but the ball may fall into the jackfruit forest on the right site if the player does not make a careful judge.
