Q: What are electronic tickets? How do I use them?
A: Electronic tickets (e-tickets) are now offered by major airlines in China. They allow you to travel without a paper ticket, thus eliminating the inconveniences of leaving your tickets behind. An e-ticket confirms your airline ticket purchase without requiring a paper record. The only record of an e-ticket sale is in electronic format in the airline's computer system. Passengers can use e-tickets in the same way as paper tickets. Passengers holding e-ticket receipts can check in the same way as passengers holding paper tickets. Passengers using e-tickets without receipts must check in at the designated counter and present a valid ID or passport. After the passenger is identified by the airline, the staff will issue the receipt along with the boarding pass and baggage tags.

Q: Are electronic tickets changeable, endorsable or refundable?

A: Yes. Please follow the specific regulations of different airlines.

Q: How do I change or cancel my Paradise-sanya.com flight booking?

A: To change or cancel your booking, please call 400-618-5622 (in Mainland China) or (0086) 898-88986649 (anywhere else in the world). The change or cancellation is free if your tickets are not issued. For tickets already issued, fees may be incurred according to applicable airline regulations.

A: You may check special flight deals on our website. Please be reminded that the flight deals are limited offers that are not regularly available. The earlier you book, the more likely you are to get special deals. In general, the special flight deals are non-endorsable, non-changeable and non-refundable. Q: What types of identification are acceptable?

A: Valid IDs include People's Republic of China Resident IDs, Passports, Home-Visiting Certificates for Compatriots from Hong Kong and Macao, Taiwan Compatriot Travel Certificates, Residence Permits and Travel Permits. When buying infant or child tickets, a valid certificate with the birth date of the infant or child must be provided. Passengers with serious illnesses are required to present the written permission of his/her physician for the airline boarding approval. Please check with the airline for policies on special requests.

Q: What are the Airport Construction Fee regulations?

A: All domestic routes will be implementing the following surcharges: RMB 50 will be charged for each passenger per flight for routes less than 800 kilometers. RMB 80 will be charged for each passenger per flight for routes that are 800 kilometers or more.

Q: Do children or infants need to pay Airport Construction Fees?

A: No, they do not need to pay Airport Construction Fees.

Q: Why do the Airport Construction Fees have three different prices: RMB10, RMB50 and RMB90?

A: Airport Construction Fees are now included in the price of all tickets sold after Sep.1st, 2004. (Before that, passengers needed to pay Airport Construction Fees separately at the airport). For domestic regional routes flown by the airplanes below, the Airport Construction Fee of each leg is RMB10. For all other domestic flights not flown by the planes below, the Airport Construction Fee is RMB50. For all international flights, the Airport Construction Fee is RMB90.

Q: What is the latest check-in time?

A: In general, check-in stops 30 minutes prior to the flight departure. China Air stops check-in 45 minutes prior to the departure. Paradisesanya.com strongly advises passengers to arrive at the airport 90 minutes before
departure.

Q: Can passengers take pets on board? What are the procedures?

A: Yes, passengers can take pets on board. Please apply with the airline 3 days before your flight and follow the indicated procedures.

Q: Can pregnant women fly on airplanes?

A: It is safe for pregnant women to fly. There are no restrictions on pregnant women up to their 7th month of pregnancy. However, for their safety, pregnant women in their 8 month of pregnancy or later are recommended not to fly; if the flight is necessary, two copies of a signed doctor's permission letter must be filed together with an application form to the airline. The doctor's letter should include the passenger name, age, pregnancy date, EDC (Expected Date of Confinement), journey date and special care needed. A pregnant woman of 8-month or above can only board after receiving airline approval.

Q: Can infants fly on airplanes?

A: An infant is defined as a child younger than 2 years old. An infant ticket is 10% of the cost of the regular adult airfare and no seat is provided. Passengers may only buy one infant ticket for each adult ticket purchased. If one adult needs to buy more than one infant ticket, the purchase of a child ticket is required. Infants younger than 14 days are not allowed to fly.

Q: Are seriously ill but not contagious patients allowed to fly?

A: Yes, but the patients need to show written permission from a doctor when buying a ticket in order to obtain the airline's boarding approval.

Q: What is an unaccompanied minor?

A: An unaccompanied minor is defined as a child between 5 and 12 years old, not accompanied by an adult.

Q: What are the carry-on baggage regulations for domestic flights?

A: For domestic airlines, first-class passengers can take two pieces of carry-on baggage, while business-class and economic-class passengers can only take one piece. Each piece of carry-on baggage should be no larger than 20*40*55cm and no heavier than 5kg.

Q: What are the free baggage allowances for domestic flights?

A: For adult and child passengers, the free baggage allowance for each passenger is: first-class 40kg, business class 30kg, and economic class 20kg. No free baggage for infant tickets.

Q: What are the baggage compensation rules?

A: The maximum compensation rate to lost or damaged baggage is RMB50/kg. If the baggage value is lower than RMB50/kg, the compensation will be made according to the actual loss. The overweight fees will be returned. When the baggage value is higher than RMB50/kg, passengers need to claim the baggage value (up to RMB 8,000/kg). For baggage with claimed value over RMB50/kg, the carrier will charge 0.5% of the amount over the baggage's maximum compensation amount, and the compensation will be made according to the claimed value if loss occurs.

Q: What are the free baggage allowances for international flights?

A: There are two common standards of free baggage allowances for international flights: 1/ First class: 40kg (88 lb.); Business class: 30kg (66 lb.); economic class: 20kg (44 lb.); or 2/ each passenger may have two pieces of free baggage. The weight of each piece is less than 32kg and L+W+H of each piece is less than 158cm (for economic class, the L+W+H of two pieces of baggage should be less than 273cm).

Q: What is a regional jet?

A: A regional jet has 50-110 seats and flies distances from 600km to 1200km.

Q: Why is the child price sometimes higher than the adult price for the same flight?

A: Children between 2 and 12 years old can buy children's tickets which are 50% of the full price. On occasion, special deals for adult tickets may have discounts greater than 50%, thus showing that the children's price is higher than the adult price.

Q: What should I do if I need to change the departure date/time of my ticket?

A: Please provide us with detailed information of your ticket and flight, and then we'll try our best to fulfill your request.

Q: What should I do if I lose my air ticket?

A:  Passengers can report lost tickets at the following places: the original ticketing agency, another agency authorized by the airlines, or any airline ticket office. When you report a lost ticket, you need to submit your valid ID. If the claimer is not the passenger, the passenger's written authorization and the valid ID of both the passenger and the claimer are required. The claim should be in written form with a detailed description of the loss. You also need to fill out the Lost Ticket Form and present a certificate issued by the local Public Security Bureau.

Q: How do I buy a ticket to Tibet?

A: For citizens of Mainland China, passengers can buy tickets to Tibet with their ID card. Other passengers have to buy the tickets with both a passport and a Tibet Visa.
