Carlson Hotels Worldwide Announces Ninth Property in China Sanya Bay Home to Second Radisson Hotel in 2012

Singapore (March 04, 2009) - Carlson Hotels Worldwide, one of the world’s leading hotel companies, has announced that it will be opening and managing a second Radisson hotel in Sanya Bay, China. The latest agreement with Sanya Zhong Gang Real Estate Co. marks the ninth hotel property currently under development in China for Carlson. Radisson Hotels & Resorts? is the upscale, full-service brand of Carlson. The group also recently announced that it will manage a Radisson Plaza hotel, which is the brand’s premium extension, in Sanya on the Lu Hui Tou peninsular.

“This is an important development for Carlson as it will give us the opportunity to strengthen the Radisson brand in one of Asia’s most renowned holiday destinations. It will also help increase our presence in southern China,” said Jean-Marc Busato, managing director – Asia Pacific, Carlson Hotels Worldwide.

The Radisson Hotel Sanya Bay will be located at the intersection of Yue Jin Road and Sheng Li Road, close to Sanya city and about 20 kilometres from the airport.

There is also a new conference centre under construction close to the hotel, which can accommodate up to 3000 delegates, catering to the growing Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibition (MICE) segment.

“The local government is positioning Sanya as an upscale tourism destination, with Sanya Bay being further developed to include a golf course, theme parks and a marina. Being a popular getaway and well known for its white sandy beaches, Radisson Hotel Sanya Bay will be part of a major mixed-use development with extensive recreational and entertainment facilities,” said Wei Xi, executive deputy general manager, Sanya Zhong Gang Real Estate Co.

Radisson Hotel Sanya Bay will have 415 rooms, several restaurants and meeting facilities, including a 1500 m2 ballroom and eight meeting rooms. The property is scheduled to open in 2012.
