Dongzaigang Mangrove Natural Reserve has a total area of 4,000 hectares. It is located in the northeast of Qiongshan City, 20 minutes’ drive from Haikou. There are about 34 species of mangrove treesunder 16 families growing in this reserve. In 1987, it was listed as national level natural reserve. Extending across the seacoast, Dongzhaigang Mangrove Natural Reserve is the first mangrove natural reserve in China. Mangroves are clusters of evergreen shrub unique to tropical and subtropical mud beaches and are known as "the great green wall on the sea". Migratory birds in autumn and winter bring life to the mangrove area, which is also called the "Paradise of Migratory Birds".

Visitors can also take a boat, and row through the groves. It is a real paradise for migratory birds.
